About Bremont Watches
Bremont Watches – British Aviation & Military Timepieces
Founded in 2002 by aviator brothers Nick and Giles English, Bremont is a leading British watch brand renowned for producing luxury pilot watches, military watches, and professional dive watches. Although a relatively modern name in the watch industry, Bremont watches have quickly earned global recognition for their rugged engineering, aviation heritage, and chronometer-certified performance. Deeply inspired by British aviation, exploration, and military history, Bremont watches are designed to meet the demands of pilots, divers, sailors, and adventurers.
Drawing on their flying backgrounds, the English brothers set out to create automatic watches that prioritised durability, accuracy, and legibility. Central to this philosophy is Bremont’s patented Trip-Tick® case construction, a three-part watch case engineered to enhance strength and shock resistance. Today, Bremont watches are trusted by professionals and collectors alike, offering a broad range of Swiss-made mechanical watches with distinctly British character.
The origins of the Bremont watch brand are rooted in personal loss and passion. Following the tragic death of their father in a flying accident in 1995, Nick and Giles English committed themselves to creating a watch brand that embodied precision engineering, uncompromising reliability, and military aviation values. A chance emergency landing in France led to a meeting with Antoine Bremont, a former pilot and watch enthusiast, whose name would later define the brand. Bremont watches were born from this moment, blending RAF heritage with modern watchmaking innovation.
Bremont Military & Aviation Watches
Among the most famous Bremont military watches is the long-standing collaboration with Martin-Baker, the British manufacturer of aircraft ejection seats. The Bremont Martin-Baker MBI watch was created exclusively for pilots who had ejected from Martin-Baker seats, making it one of the most exclusive tool watches in the world. These Bremont watches are tested to withstand extreme cold, high-impact forces, free-fall conditions, and live ejection scenarios. Subsequent MBII watches introduced additional colour-coded barrels, including green, orange, and anthracite.
Bremont continues to work closely with military squadrons and aircrews to create limited-edition aviation watches tailored to specific aircraft and missions. Many Bremont watches incorporate historic materials, reinforcing their collectability. Notable examples include the Bremont Codebreaker watch, featuring original materials from Bletchley Park, and the Bremont Hawking watch, which honours Professor Stephen Hawking with meteorite elements and antique wood.
Bremont Dive Watches & Professional Tool Watches
Bremont’s reputation extends beyond aviation into professional dive watches. The Bremont Supermarine watch collection pays tribute to the legendary Supermarine Spitfire and includes highly capable automatic dive watches. Models such as the Bremont Supermarine 500M offer 500 metres of water resistance, while the Supermarine 2000M watch increases this to 2,000 metres and incorporates a helium escape valve for saturation diving. These Bremont dive watches combine robust engineering with refined, modern design.
The brand has also expanded into contemporary tool-watch territory with newer collections such as Bremont Altitude watches and Bremont Terra Nova watches, offering GMT complications, chronographs, and field-watch aesthetics designed for modern explorers. These newer Bremont watch models reflect the brand’s evolution toward greater wearability while maintaining professional-grade performance.
British Watchmaking & Modern Manufacturing
Bremont watches are distinguished by advanced manufacturing techniques, including convex sapphire crystals with multi-layer anti-reflective coatings for enhanced visibility. Movements are protected by shock-absorbing mounts and anti-magnetic Faraday cages, ensuring resistance to extreme temperatures, pressure changes, magnetism, and impact. Materials such as Glucydur, an antimagnetic alloy, further enhance the durability of every Bremont automatic watch.
Originally manufactured in Bienne, Switzerland, Bremont relocated production to Henley-on-Thames in 2013, reinforcing its identity as a modern British watch brand. Today, Bremont watches represent a fusion of Swiss mechanical expertise and British design philosophy, making them highly desirable among collectors seeking luxury tool watches with genuine heritage.
Bremont Watches Today
Today, Bremont watches are celebrated worldwide for their aviation roots, military credibility, and technical innovation. From pilot watches and military chronographs to professional dive watches and GMT tool watches, Bremont continues to push the boundaries of modern British watchmaking—creating timepieces built for adventure, engineered for precision, and designed to last.
